To that, bemedaled, Olympic hero Michael Phelps says, "I'm 23 years old, and despite the successes I have had in the pool, I acted in a youthful and inappropriate way, not in a manner that people have come to expect from me," Phelps said. "For this, I am sorry. I promise my fans and the public -- it will not happen again."I think that last statement, "...I acted in a youthful and inappropriate way..." is wrong.
Mr. Phelps, please do not blame your youth for doing what you did. That generalized statement makes you want to say that being young - you're very irresponsible and undisciplined. Why don't you just say that you're sorry and that you were wrong. Perhaps even add that you didn't know better.
